The American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) through their ITMP programme established an International Fellowship in Mohs Surgery in 2016.
Selected units internationally could apply and were evaluated. Those units selected then had a site visit with surgery and case reports as well as in depth analysis of the quality of the unit.
Following the site visit there was a report back to the ASDS ITMP International Fellowship Commit-tee and if successful an International unit was then awarded. Fellowship status, and the Unit Director was appointed a Fellowship Director. The Skinmatters Mohs Micrographic Surgery unit was assessed, had a site visit and was appointed as the first International Mohs Micrographic Fellowship under the ASDS ITMP programme. We are truly honoured to have been awarded this honour and be entrusted to train future Mohs surgeons at our Mohs unit in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Fellowship Director is dr Pieter du Plessis with Co-faculty dr Japie de Wet (Reconstructive Sur-geon) and histological back-up services provided by Ampath Anatomical Pathologists. Further co-faculty will be added as the unit grows.
